It all started in Casablanca, Morocco. I had no computer,
no telephone, no television -- but I had time on my hands and drawing paper.
The art teacher at school - not me - loved drawing portraits. As I watched him
draw one of my Moroccan friends, I thought, "I think I can do that."
And, so I did.
I drew portraits from photos I'd taken in during my travels
around Morocco. I didn't even know I could do this so it was a pleasant
surprise. I have continued doing this as I've traveled the distant corners of
the world. These portraits are my most personal and most favorite souvenirs
of any I've gathered along the way. Each drawing has a story. It doesn't
matter if the person just briefly crossed my path, or was a close friend,
or was someone who just happened to catch this photographer's eye. Every
one of them comes with their own tale.
